Helllloooo blog. That was a bit of a hiatus, eh? It’s been nearly a month since my last update. My bad.
I’ve been pretty busy at work and with life in general lately. And I think I’ve mentioned this before, but when your job involves drafting tweets and posting on Facebook and writing blogs…sometimes doing those things for yourself just feels like another job.
That’s not to say I don’t still occasionally spend lunch time and my before-bed phone time catching up on others’ blogs though! I’m starting to wonder how people do it with busy full-time jobs and regular blog posts on top of it!
One thing that won’t change no matter how busy I am (or how much I neglect my blog) is the fact that I’m constantly taking pictures and documenting my everyday life. Like, seriously. The other day, Russell actually said to me, “you don’t have to take pictures of everything you eat, you know.” I know…but I #cantstop #wontstop!
So without further ado, here are some of my recent favorite things that I’ve been able to document:
1) First & Foremost…my new helmet
Ever since I got in my bike accident resulting in a head injury and 2 nights in the hospital, it has been on my to-do list to purchase a helmet. However, if I had to get a helmet I (vainly) wanted to buy one that was super cute. In the meantime I had been riding my slow, safer beach cruiser (as opposed to my quicker fixie-type bike that I crashed), but that wouldn’t do when last weekend we decided to go on a ~10 mile roundtrip bike ride to West Sacramento. So I finally made a purchase! You can’t quite tell from the picture but it is definitely highlighter yellow. Nice and bright and obnoxious, just how I like most of my accessories
2) Fun new breakfast treats
This week, I found a bunch of fun breakfast stuff at Safeway. Chobani’s latest “Limited Batch” features Watermelon and Plum flavors and I had to try the Watermelon…It was WAY better than I expected! It had been a while since I got Fiber One brownies, so I have no idea how long they have had this mint fudge flavor but I’m OBSESSED. They’re so good. (and yes, I count these as part of my fiber-packed breakfast ) And I don’t know how you could go wrong with a chocolate & hazelnut flavored Chobani Flip. I added some chia seeds in there too…for health.
3) Getting back into fitness
I have been trying to keep up with some kind of fitness schedule since my accident and vacation threw me out of whack, but it has admittedly been a long and slow process. But this week, I achieved my goal of 2 runs and 2 gym workouts! I didn’t quite get to 10,000 Fitbit steps everyday, but look at all of my 30+ active minute days! #smallvictories
4) Fabletics prints
I am obsessed with Fabletic’s Animal Impressions print that came out last month and may or may not have gotten it in shorts AND leggings. The leggings are my fave, but our 90+ degree heat isn’t exactly conducive to wearing them I also might have to get their new American flag print too…So many great prints!
5) Healthy dinners
Luckily for me, Russell has been on a healthy kick since we got back from vacation and it’s been fun to make healthy dinners together most nights of the week. Now if only I could learn to pass on my usual glass (or 2) of wine with dinner, I’d be able to claim them as truly healthy dinners
One of my favorite meals we’ve made lately was stuffed peppers. We do turkey tacos (with veggies, cheese, and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream) at least once a week, but Russell had the great idea to change things up and put the ground turkey in bell peppers instead! We added onion, garlic, a little bit of sausage, and tomato sauce, then topped them with mozzarella cheese. It was a really tasty low carb dinner, and we got our veggies in too
That’s it for now! We are off to Lake County this weekend to meet Russell’s new nephew. If the photos I’ve seen so far, the Panella genes are pretty strong in this one and he’ll be breaking hearts in no time
I’ll try not to be such a stranger ’round these parts moving forward. Have a great weekend!
